Within the 5th Ecumenical Social Week on September 26 in Lviv, Ukraine well-known journalists discussed the crisis condition of freedom of speech.

Andrii Kulykov, media expert talked about such pressure points on the journalist as pressure from the authorities, colleagues and audience. Journalist advised colleagues to resist negative "jeans", but to listen to criticism, which can clean media from errors. The representative of Institute for Media Olga Shalaiska noted that in an undeveloped advertising market "jeans", especially before elections, is the only source of obtaining food. And according to Paraskovia Dvorianyn, chief editor of regional news TRK "Lux", journalists often violate the criterion of accuracy, balance and substitute facts with own comments. About the relevance of religious freedom in the media told Taras Antoshevskyi, director of the Religious Information Service of Ukraine.

 

The participants of discussion also talked over the quality of professional training of journalists and ways to improve the work of journalists and the leading media.
